The First Steps

Archer and Sons Funeral Homes can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for support and advice following the death of a loved one. Our Funeral Arrangers will guide you through the process of arranging a funeral.

Arranging the Funeral

For arranging the funeral, the Funeral Arranger will require your loved one's personal details for the Registrar General, including:

  • Date and place of birth

  • Usual place of residence

  • Main Occupation during their working life

  • Marriage particulars (Date and place of Marriages/to whom)

  • Children’s names and dates of birth

  • Your loved one’s parents' names and occupations (if possible)

Some other points to consider prior to the funeral arrangement which will help make the process a little easier on the day of the arrangement:

  • Did your loved one leave any written instructions on either a burial or cremation?

  • Did you have a preference for where the service is to be held?

  • Will it be a religious or civil service (with a Minister or a Celebrant)?

  • Would any family members like to attend a private viewing prior to the service?

  • Is there particular clothing you would like your loved one dressed in for the viewing/service?

  • Would you like Archer and Sons to arrange a Wake?

  • Would you like a Visual Eulogy Tribute (25-30 photos)?

  • Is there a selection of music (4 or 5 pieces) that you would like played during the service?

  • Would you like a record of attendance and a memorial bookmark as a keepsake for those attending the service?
